Ms. Shifflett is a 72 year old female that is the grandmother of 22 kids. She had 5 kids of her own. For the majority of her life, she was a stay at home mother and helped raised three of her grand children. She was a very active woman, until the past few years. She has experienced a dramatic slow down in her activity level. The last two months, she has noticed that she gets winded with very little activity. Ms. Shifflett's husband died in a farm accident nearly thirty years ago. She is a tough, independent woman.
Ms. Shifflett has noticed some difficulty breathing with exertion. She has also reports that she has no apetite and has suffered some weight loss. Currently, the medical assistant reports that she weighs 105 pounds. Until the last three months she smoked 2 packs per day of Pall Mall cigarettes. She smoked from the age of fifteen. She reports that she had a cold with a cough that lasted for two months. When prompted, she tells you that she has had similar episodes over the last few years. She says that everyone her age has similar problems.
