Written for MATX 601: Texts and Textuality, this paper looks at the problematic relationship of women to the bohemian tradition. I use the example of Hannah Höch and Laurie Anderson, two artists working in different media but employing similar strategies to make their way in bohemian culture.
In this paper, written for the course MATX 603: History of Multimedia and Interdisciplinarity, I examine the discrepancies between the rhetoric put forth and the practices put in place by the founders of the Bauhaus. I show how inequality marred the idealized vision of a unified community of artists and craftsmen.
