The Tap Shift

A shift is a way of nullyifying a fair cut. When an unknowing player cuts the deck, the cheat holds a break while collecting the cards and secretly reverses the packets back to their original position. The shift is used to retain a group of pre-arranged cards on top or bottom of the deck. This technique is only used if a cheat is working alone and doesn’t have a partner to false cut. In this video I have reversed the Ace so you can see the instant the shift takes place: as the cards are tapped on the table. The shift is one of the most difficult cheating moves, and also one of the easiest to detect.
